Here we tell you proper diet in IgA Nephropathy patients to reduce their kidney burden.

1. Low salt, low fat, high fiber, moderate fluid, moderate sugar and moderate protein

Proteinuria can make you lose some protein and calcium. You can increase your protein and calcium through eating eggs, drinking milk, eating lean meat and fish. Staple food should be rice and pasta. However, you are not suggested to take beans because there are high levels of purine base and low quality of plant protein. Vegetables and fruits are the main source of vitamin and microelements. This can also help remove toxins in kidney patients.

2. Remove potassium, phosphorus and purine

Vegetables, fruits and foods with high calcium are often associated with high potassium and high phosphorus. This can burden your kidneys. Before eating vegetables and fruits, you can boil them with water. As for phosphorus, it can be excreted out of your body through calcium combining phosphorus and also you need to avoid eating ribs and dried small shrimps as well as high phosphorus foods. Besides, the main source of high quality protein is lean meat which contains lots of purine. You can eat lean meat after it is boiled. Bean sprout, sefood and animal organs are all high purine foods. Patients with gout should limit high purine foods strictly.

3. Avoid spicy foods

IgA Nephropathy patients should avoid spicy and stimulating foods. Salty and spicy foods can workload your kidneys and speed up the progression of your kidney condition. Cold foods are not helpful for the reabsorption of your medicines and stop the recovery of your condition. Besides, greasy foods, cigarette and alcohol should be avoided. Online kidney doctor
